The iCan way of thinking- Community involvement

At iCan we love being part of our community! From Carlisle to Cumbria! We feel community is vital to the health and wellbeing of our city, our families and our peers.

We’ve been told our club feels more like a community centre than a gym sometimes- WHICH WE LOVE!

Recently we’ve been lucky enough to be included in two wonderful community projects.

Cumbrian Girls Can:

Cumbrian Girls Can has an aim to amplify the national ‘This Girl Can’ campaign in Cumbria, funded by the National Lottery.
The campaign believes that there’s no right way to get active – if it gets your heart rate up it counts! They want more women to find what’s right for them.
iCan is hosting  the multicultural dance carousel in our studio that was organised with Cumbrian Girls Can and aims to help multicultural women to exercise in a safe and women only facility.
Can you spot, our members, our lovely iCan facility and Director Lisa in the two films?

Carlisle Collective Fringe:

What is the Carlisle Collective?

The Collective was brought together in February 2019 as a means to bring the performing arts community of Carlisle together.
The driving force behind the Collective comprises of 8 talented artists, practitioners and business owners who call Carlisle their home. The group, all with varied backgrounds, training and experiences within the arts, have all come together collectively to realise the same goal: to provide a platform for Carlisle performing artists and theatre companies in the form of fringe festivals and events.
As this is a community led project we encourage as much input from the community as possible and will always act on the feedback generated by online engagement with the public. In essence, although there is a small team taking care of the running of the Collective, in truth it’s made up of everyone: artists, businesses and community alike.
The inaugural Carlisle collective fringe launches on Friday 23rd 2019 and runs throughout that bank holiday weekend. With over 60 community acts taking part. Theatrical performances, craft workshops, motivational mornings, child entertainers and bands will entertain and engage the Carlisle Community! Many acts are FREE and other tickets can be bought at www.carlislecollective.co.uk
iCan will be hosting the Motivational Mornings bringing family friendly activities to the Old Central Methodist Hall at 9:30am each day. Friday and Saturday will be family Rebounding and Sunday will give you the chance to try Yoga and Chair based exercises. Tickets are £5 and can be bought through Lisa at 01228 212099 or www.carlislecollective.co.uk.
